Manchester United will return to Premier League action on Sunday, November 24, when they take on Ipswich Town in Ruben Amorim’s first game in charge of the club.
At Sporting, Amorim generally played with a 3-4-3 system. As such, we will assume that he will ditch Erik ten Hag’s previous 4-2-3-1 formation and utilise a playing style that he is more familiar with.
United are currently 13th in the Premier League table, having amassed 15 points from 11 games thus far. They have struggled to score goals, having notched up just 12, and have been leaky at the back, conceding the same amount.
Ipswich, on the other hand, find themselves in 17th place in the league table. They have picked up eight points, having only won one game thus far in 2024/25.
It has been a long time since the last time the two teams came to blows in the Premier League. While they met in 2015 in the League Cup, their last Premier League encounter was all the way back in 2002. In that game, which took place at Portman Road, United ran out as 1-0 winners. Ruud van Nistelrooy - who has recently acted as their interim head coach - scored the only goal of the game en route to the Red Devils’ victory.

2. LCB: Victor Lindelof
United have something of an injury crisis at the back. In Amorim's 3-4-3 system, he will be forced to play the out-of-favour Victor Lindelof to fill out the back three. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images

3. CB: Jonny Evans
