Manchester United's substitutes made the difference as they came from behind to defeat Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
Rasmus Hojlund and Mason Mount both shone from the bench and spared Andre Onana's blushes after a costly error had given the home side the lead out of nowhere, while Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui also impressed.
Ruben Amorim made five changes from the team that lost to Nottingham Forest last weekend, with Tyrell Malacia, Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee among those who came into the starting line up. Mazraoui and Casemiro were the others to come in.
In a first-half low on any attacking quality, Zirkzee fired a dangerous cross into the Plzen box while Bruno Fernandes tested the goalkeeper with a low driven effort from outside the box. The home side drew confidence as Andre Onana flapped at a couple of crosses into the box, though he was never really tested in what was an atrocious half of football.
It didn't take long for things to liven up after the break though, when Plzen took the lead as Matej Vydra fired into an empty net after an inexcusable error from goalkeeper Onana.
Hojlund made an immediate impact from the bench when he raced through on goal and sent a tame effort at the goalkeeper, but he made amends moments later when he levelled the score from close range from a rebound.
United went close to a second when Hojlund almost connected with a sensational cross from Fernandes, though Vydra sent another warning when he fired just wide of Onana's goal against the run of play.
Mount twice could have scored after he had been introduced from the bench as he fired two efforts straight at the 'keeper, but Hojlund proved to be the hero as he netted a late winner after an excellent quick free-kick from Fernandes.
Here is how we rated the United players in the match:

2. Noussair Mazraoui - 7

3. Matthijs de Ligt - 6
He performed solid enough and can't be blamed for Onana's awful attempt to find him with a pass for the Plzen goal. | Manchester United via Getty Images

4. Lisandro Martinez - 5
Martinez was combative when required but didn't have much joy against the Plzen forward line. United need more from him in possession. | AFP via Getty Images
