Manchester United defeated Barnsley 7-0 in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night thanks to braces from Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Christian Eriksen as well a penalty from Antony.
Erik ten Hag made eight changes from the side that defeated Southampton at the weekend, with Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer both making their full competitive debuts for the club.
The League One side started as the better at Old Trafford without ever really testing Altay Bayindir in goal and were soon behind after a superb strike from Marcus Rashford.
United took control of the game and would have a second when Antony raced onto a through ball from Rashford and won a penalty that he then emphatically converted. Things got even better on the stroke of half-time when Alejandro Garnacho pounced on a loose ball in the box and poked the ball into the bottom corner.
United could quite have easily settled for what they had already, but hit the ground running after the break when Garnacho raced onto a great pass from Christian Eriksen to add a fourth for his side. The Argentine soon turned provider again when he rolled the ball through for Rashford who finished emphatically at the near-post to further extend their lead.
They weren't done there though, adding a further two goals in the closing stages of the match as Eriksen grabbed a brace with two great finishes to record the biggest win of Ten Hag's reign.

Read the game well and offered a threat at the other end of the pitch as well. A classy performance as we saw so often last season. | Manchester United via Getty Images Photo: Manchester United via Getty Images
