Lisandro Martinez and Manuel Ugarte both really struggled as Manchester United were beaten 2-1 by Leeds in the Premier League. Michael Carrick made four changes to his starting line up for the match, with Lisandro Martinez back from a recent calf injury, while Kobbie Mainoo missed out after a minor setback.
United started slowly and fell behind when Noah Okafor fired in from close range after some poor defending from Manuel Ugarte and Leny Yoro. The home side never looked like finding a leveller and fell two goals down when a deflected Okafor volley found the back of the net after some more abject defending. Leeds almost added a third on the stroke of half-time but Martinez was on hand to deny Ao Tanaka on the goal line.
United started better after the break and wasted an excellent opportunity to score when Benjamin Sesko fired straight at Karl Darlow. Any chance of a comeback soon appeared thwarted when Martinez was shown a straight red card after he was judged to have pulled Dominic Calvert-Lewin's hair.
It was United who responded the best, though. Leeds were wasteful with their chances on the break and soon saw their lead cut in half when Casemiro headed in at the back post after an excellent ball from Bruno Fernandes. Sesko and Casemiro both went close to an equaliser with further headed efforts, but there was no way through for the 10 men.
Here is how we rated United after the home defeat to Leeds.

5. Luke Shaw - 4
Not as good as he had been in recent weeks. He was isolated on the left wing and had little joy in attack. Booked for a cynical foul. | AFP via Getty Images

6. Casemiro - 5
A dreadful first-half performance but much better after the restart. An emphatic header to give United hope of a comeback. Saw another header cleared off the line. | Getty Images

7. Manuel Ugarte - 3
Well off the pace from the start and made several mistakes. He is just not up to the standard required in the Premier League. | Getty Images

8. Bruno Fernandes - 6
Carried a creative threat but rarely managed to show it. His frustrated performance set the tone for the rest of the team. Another assist for his collection when he set up Casemiro. | Getty Images
