Manchester United player ratings as 'excellent' 9/10 shines but 3/10 selection backfires - gallery

Man Utd player ratings from their 3-2 win over Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League.

Rasmus Hojlund shone as Manchester United came from behind to defeat Bodo/Glimt 3-2 in Ruben Amorim's first home match. Amorim made six changes from the side that drew with Ipswich at the weekend, as Lisandro Martinez, Manuel Ugarte, Tyrell Malacia, Mason Mount, Antony and Hojlund all came into the line up.

United had scored within 81 seconds of Amorim's first match in charge at the weekend, and it was even quicker in his second, when Alejandro Garnacho capitalised on some calamitous goalkeeping to put his side ahead within 48 seconds against the Norwegian side.

They had been guilty of regressing after their bright start at Portman Road, but the earlier goal only encouraged United to attack with more freedom as Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes both sent efforts at the Bodo/Glimt goal. There is a reason why Bodo/Glimt could be crowned champions of Norway this weekend though. They looked a constant threat on the counter-attack and soon levelled through a brilliant strike from Haken Evjen after some shambolic defending from the United backline.

It didn't take long before things got even better for the away side either, when Philip Zinckernagel raced past the returning Tyrell Malacia on the left wing, exposed the space left by the sluggish Matthijs de Ligt and fired a shot between Andre Onana's legs to complete a quickfire turnaround.

United still posed their own threat in attack though, and found themselves level on the stroke of half-time when the impressive Rasmus Hojlund controlled the ball in the box and fired an excellent finish into the corner of the net.

Amorim turned to his bench at half-time as Diogo Dalot replaced Malacia, and they nearly grabbed an early goal when Mount curled a fine effort off the crossbar. Mount would play a key part as United finally restored their lead though. It was his clever flick that released Ugarte on the wing, who played a dangerous cross into the box that was converted by the excellent Hojlund from close range.

United wasted further chances to wrap the game up when Garnacho blasted over from the edge of the box and substitute Marcus Rashford drilled a ferocious effort just wide of the Bodo/Glimt goal. It looked like those wasted chances could cost United, but they managed to hang off, in part thanks to some unorthodox defending from goalkeeper Onana.

Here is how we rated the United players in what was a chaotic win:
