Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo shone as Manchester United defeated FCSB 2-0 in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Ruben Amorim made five changes to his line up with Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen among those who came in from the start. The tactical change seemed to work well and United should have taken an early lead when Kobbie Mainoo blasted over the bar after a smart pass from Rasmus Hojlund.
United dominated possession in the first-half but rarely troubled FCSB before Amorim turned to his bench at half-time to introduce both Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho. It only took a minute for the changes to work as Garnacho latched onto a loose ball and fired an effort off the post for the best chance of the game.
Bruno Fernandes sent a thunderous effort against the bar and moments later United took the lead when Diogo Dalot latched on a brilliant cross at the back-post. It looked like United would go on to seal a comfortable win but they were sent an immediate warning when they sent a thunderous effort off the underside of the crossbar.
United survived the scare though and soon had a second when Mainoo finished from inside the box after a good cross from Garnacho to cap a fine individual display. They should have had a third when Fernandes fired wide from a tight angle in the box.
