Manchester United have been linked with a £65million move for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, but are not the only club who have the Serbian on their radar, according to reports.

It is understood that the 26-year-old’s preferred destination is Real Madrid, while Juventus and Inter have also shown interest in poaching the player from their Serie A rivals.

United have been consistently linked with the midfielder for several seasons now and this summer may be their best opportunity to finally strike a deal with Lazio reportedly needing to sell in order to raise transfer funds.

Manchester United to move for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer

United could agree a deal for Milinkovic-Savic this summer with reports from Il Messaggero in Italy suggesting that Lazio will need to sell the player in order to raise funds.

However, that doesn’t mean that the club from the Italian capital will let the Serbian international leave on the cheap with several figures in the region of £65 million to £70 million being touted, as per The Sun.

Also standing in the way of a deal are multiple other clubs who could be pursuing Milinkovic-Savic, most notably Real Madrid, who are believed to be the player’s preferred option.

Milinkovic-Savic in fine form for club and country

Milinkovic-Savic has been a key part of the Lazio side for six seasons now, having first signed at the Stadio Olimpico back in July 2015.

After beginning his career with FK Vojvodina in his native Serbia, the midfielder joined Racing Club Genk in the Belgian Pro League for a season before his move to Serie A.

The 26-year old has since made 270 first-team appearances for Lazio and scored 54 goals in all competitions and was part of the side that won the Coppa Italia in 2019 and claimed the club’s Player of the Year award for the 2020/21 season.
