'We have to protect them' - Manchester United issue injury update on four players for Europa League final
The Man Utd injury news ahead of the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur later this month.
Ruben Amorim admits Manchester United need to be 'careful' with some players as they build up to their Europa League final tie with Tottenham Hotspur later this month. United booked their place in the final with a 4-1 victory over Athletic Club on Thursday night, while Spurs won 2-0 away at Bodo/Glimt.
United made eight changes to their starting line up for the semi-final second leg and could make as many changes again when they face West Ham in the Premier League this weekend. United then travel to face Chelsea next Friday night before they travel to Bilbao for the crucial final.
The two sides will look to salvage poor Premier League campaigns with Champions League qualification and it will be a tricky task for Amorim to balance his squad so that key players can stay match fit but avoid unnecessary injury risk ahead of their most important match of the season.
United issue injury update on four players
Manchester United are expected to make wholesale changes to their starting line up when host West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon and Ruben Amorim has already hinted which players might get a rest.
Noussair Mazraoui was not involved when United faced Brentford in the Premier League last weekend, while Mason Mount and Amad Diallo are both gaining match sharpness after their recent return from injury. Diogo Dalot is still sidelined with a calf injury but is doing 'everything' he can to be available for the final.
Speaking after the 4-1 win over Athletic Club, Amorim issued an update on his squad: "It is going to be hard. Players like Mason Mount we have to be careful, Amad is still getting his momentum. So, some players are not capable to do that. We rest Nous but you can feel Mazraoui doesn’t have the energy in this moment, so we tried to help him in that department. Dalot is doing everything to recover. I think they will push now to be available. Some players cannot play 90 minutes and we have to protect them, so. we don't get injuries before the final."
