Man Utd were without 12 senior players for their 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

Ruben Amorim admits he expects Amad Diallo to be ruled out for the rest of the season as Manchester United endure a worsening injury crisis. United were without 12 senior players for their 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday and named eight substitutes on the bench who had never played a senior match for the club.

United were rocked by a serious setback in midweek when Amad sustained ankle ligament damage in training, while Kobbie Mainoo also suffered an issue that is expected to rule him out of action for the best part of six weeks. Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer both also missed the trip to North London, while Leny Yoro and Christian Eriksen suffered from illness.

Luke Shaw and Mason Mount are both long-term injury absentees, while Altay Bayindir, Tom Heaton and Jonny Evans have also been missing in recent weeks. Here is what Amorim said in his latest fitness update:

Speaking to reporters in his post-match press conference, Amorim was asked if any of his first-team stars were in contention to return to action against Everton next week. "It is hard to know," he said. "Let's wait a few more days. I think Leny and Chris they were sick, so they will recover. Of course Chris has the heart condition, and we have to be really careful with that. It is nothing about the heart, just the heart rate has to be controlled because he has fever. I think we will recover that. The rest we will see. I think Kobbie is out, Amad is out for sure I think until the end of the season. We will see the rest."

When further pressed on whether United could do anything to prevent their injuries, the head coach replied: "I think it is everything. Amad was alone, he was doing a tackle, the foot was stuck in the grass. Some players felt during training sickness. So it is everything. We will try everything to have the players fit. Always talk about my changes, changes game by game to try to have the players fit. I was always asking for one week and in one week we lost so many players. Sometimes we have one moment that everything is going wrong."
