Manchester United will need to spend their money wisely if they decide to sell Bruno Fernandes in the summer transfer window. It is understood the United captain is giving 'serious consideration' to a lucrative summer exit that would see him join Saudi club Al-Hilal next week.
United are understood to be 'relaxed' about the situation, though there is a growing feeling the 30-year-old could decide to leave the club after their failure to qualify for the Champions League. Fernandes was named the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year for the fourth time after a season in which he netted 19 goals and provided 20 assists.
They would not only lose an exceptional player if he left the club, they would also lose someone who is a key dressing room figure and the current club captain. Whatever happens next, it brings into question the current leaders at Old Trafford and who might be an option to wear the armband.

5. Lisandro Martinez
Martinez would be a popular choice among supporters and he is someone who plays with his heart on his sleeve. It was noted the changing room was noticeably 'much quieter' during his injury absence last season, which had a detrimental impact on performances and results. 6. Casemiro
Casemiro is the most experienced member of the United squad and would be a wise choice if he remains at the club this summer. He has turned his fortunes around under Ruben Amorim and played a pivotal role in the final months of the season. 7. Kobbie Mainoo
Mainoo is the other wildcard selection and would be a popular choice. He is a product of the club's illustrious youth academy and is an excellent example to the younger players in the squad. He wore the armband in the recent defeat to ASEAN All-Stars though his lack of a clear role in the current tactical set-up could work against him. | Manchester United via Getty Images
