Rashford, who was reared in the Fallowfield, Withington, and Wythenshawe areas of Manchester, forced the government to change its policy concerning free school meals last summer.

The government decided to stop free school meals for children over the summer holidays however Marcus Rashford stepped in and organised a country-wide response that ensured no child would go hungry.

The government soon performed a U-turn and agreed to extend the free school meals initiative over the summer.

Marcus Rashford’s MBE ceremony was Prince William’s first official face-to-face event since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.
