Manchester United were beaten in their latest Premier League outing over the weekend

Manchester United could do with bringing in some new players this summer. They will also get the chance to let some individuals leave when the next window opens as well. The Red Devils have underperformed in the Premier League once again this season.

Ruben Amorim’s side are sat in 14th place in the table and have six fixtures left to play. They were beaten 4-1 away at Newcastle United over the weekend. Alejandro Garnacho got their goal but Amorim’s men were poor in the North East.

Manchester United eye replacement for Andre Onana

According to a report by TuttoMercatoWeb, United are interested in a move for Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki. The report suggests the player is valued at around the £39million mark. He is under contract with his current club until June 2029 meaning they are under no pressure to sell him just yet and can wait until his valuation is matched.

Suzuki, 22, could be seen by the Red Devils as a potential replacement for Andre Onana. Their number one was dropped against Newcastle on Sunday after a string of mistakes. Amorim has a big decision to make regarding what to do with him next.

United are now being linked with Suzuki as they plot potential reinforcements. The Japan international, who has made 18 caps for his country, joined Parma back in 2024 and he has since become their first choice. He has made 27 appearances for the Serie A outfit and has caught the eye.

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim on Andre Onana decision

United are back in action on Thursday at home to Lyon in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie. They drew the first leg 2-2 over in France. Speaking after their defeat to Newcastle, Amorim said: “We did a lot of mistakes and they were better than us, stronger than us. Suffering the second goal in the beginning of the second half hurt us a lot and then we did mistakes during the game that helped Newcastle to win the game.

“It’s a team thing [and not about individuals]. We are doing a lot of mistakes in certain games that give confidence to the opponent, give goals, and then it’s hard to cope with everything. We had the first chance, we didn’t score, [then] they have their chance, they score. Then they took control of the game. We scored to draw but then second half, we were suffering in the second play of the game, it’s hard for our team and we did a lot of mistakes.”

On whether Onana or Altay Bayindir will start, he said: “We are going to prepare to choose the best XI that we think can win. I left him [Onana] at home [today] because any situation of the game, the cameras would be on him and he was not playing, he [would be] on the bench but feeling the pressure, feeling the moment. So, for me, it was one thing or another – you play or you stay at home. It was my choice.”
