Man Utd 'eye' France international as Borussia Dortmund chief addresses Jadon Sancho future

All the headlines coming out of Old Trafford as the January transfer window gathers pace

The January transfer window is beginning to gather pace and Manchester United could be in a position to do business over the next few weeks. The Red Devils will be focused on this weekend's Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford, but there is a need to make improvements and that is something Erik ten Hag will be more than aware of.

United have allowed Jadon Sancho to join up with his former club Borussia Dortmund this month and the club have been look to offload a few more players, too. Here's a look at some of the headlines coming out of Old Trafford this evening

United eye Amrabat replacement

United have reportedly started looking for Sofyan Amrabat replacements after deciding not to make his loan from Fiorentina permanent this summer. As such, they are being linked to a host of midfielders this month and according to Teamtalk, they are keeping tabs on Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana.

The report claims Fofana could be available for around £26m should United make an approach and it seems the France international could be tempted by a switch to the Premier League, too. The 25-year-old has been with Monaco since 2020, having started his career with Strasbourg, and he has been a key man in Adi Hutter's midfield this season.

Fofana has picked up 15 caps for France, too, six of which came during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Kehl on Sancho

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has not ruled out the possibility of signing Jadon Sancho permanently once more. Sancho completed his return to Dortmund this week on a loan deal until the end of the campaign after a falling out of the picture at Manchester United under Erik ten Hag.

The winger will be keen to rediscover the form he showed during his first spell in the Bundesliga, then, and while Dortmund know they'd face competition for his signature should he catch the eye, they're keeping their options open.

"We don't have a buy option for Sancho," Kehl said. "Staying here beyond this season? You can never rule anything out... but we know what kind of market value he can generate". I'm not naive - but we'll let things come to us"
