Defender on radar

United are ‘considering’ a move for Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah in January along with league rivals Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, according to German news outlet Bild (via Sky Sports). His contract with the Bundesliga champions expires at the end of this campaign and he is free to sign a pre-contract agrement with another team in the meantime, unless he agrees terms for an extension with his current club.

Tah, 28, has been at Leverkusen since 2015 and has been with them for nearly a decade now. He has made 365 appearances in all competitions to date and has scored 14 goals, six of which came last term as they won the title ahead of Bayern Munich against the odds under Xabi Alonso.

The Germany international, who has 31 caps under his belt so far, started his career at Hamburg and rose up through the academy of his local side. He was a regular for them at various different youth levels before playing 20 times for their first-team, as well as having a loan spell away from the Volksparkstadion at Fortuna Dusseldorf to get some experience under his belt.

United could see him as someone to bolster their defensive department but would seemingly need to see off competition from elsewhere to get him. The fact they wouldn’t have to pay a transfer fee for him if they got him would be a big boost.

England ace wanted

United are ‘scouting’ Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Eagles’ star is on their radar at the moment.

Journalist Romano has written, as per GiveMeSport: “For sure, Eze is a player United have been scouting and monitoring as they appreciate his ability, the same was true of Michael Olise while he was at Crystal Palace but the deal was too expensive and he joined Bayern Munich instead. In the next months, United will be tracking several wingers, and in summer 2025 there is a concrete chance that they will invest money in a new signing for that position.

"For now, I’m not in a position to say that it’s guaranteed that they’ll move for Eze, or who will be their top target, but they will consider bringing in a new winger, and so they will be following several players in the next months. I will try to keep you posted on the players they like, on the options they have on the table, on the possibilities they are considering, but for sure Man United are keeping a close eye on opportunities in that position for 2025."
