Manchester United confirm triple setback ahead of Tottenham fixture
Man Utd travel to face Spurs in the Premier League fixture this weekend.
Manchester United have suffered a triple selection setback ahead of their trip to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League this weekend. United are back in action when they travel to North London on Sunday afternoon and will look to build upon their comeback victory over Leicester in the FA Cup fourth round last time out.

Ruben Amorim will be without key defender Lisandro Martinez for the remainder of the season after he underwent surgery on an ACL injury this week, while Luke Shaw and Mason Mount remain long-term injury issues. Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton both missed the win over Leicester and Jonny Evans has been sidelined with a calf issue.
Amorim did not give specific names when he issued a team news update ahead of the trip to face Tottenham but confirmed they had suffered two fresh injury setbacks while another player is currently out due to illness.
United team news update ahead of Tottenham
Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon ahead of the clash with Tottenham, Amorim was asked for a team news update. “No, was a good week until two days ago, we had some problems also. We don’t have players back, we have one or two issues but we are waiting. We have one player who is sick so we will see the team at weekend. But was good to try to improve our performance.” Asked if there had been any further setbacks he added: “We will see on the weekend."
United are a bigger club than Tottenham
Amorim and Ange Postecoglou both head into the match under intense scrutiny over their respective positions and the United head coach has a lot of sympathy for his counterpart. He sparked the wrath of Tottenham ahead of the match though, by claiming he was in charge of a bigger club than Postecoglou.
“I am a huge fan of Ange Postecoglou. I am from a different culture, Portuguese and all the Portuguese coaches can adapt. I adapt. I use one system because I believe if you do that, you can use other systems at the same time. That is my idea. But I understand the connection with me and Ange, we have the same problems. I am at a bigger club. It is important for a coach to follow his principles.”
