But just who is Ten Rouwelaar? Here is everything you need to know about United's prospective new coach.
Full name: Jelle ten Rouwelaar
Date of Birth: December 24 1980 (43)

Ten Rouwelaar began his youth career with hometown club SC Joure before he was spotted by Emmen. It was at Emmen where he earned his senior breakthrough and after four years he was poached by PSV Eindhoven. Despite his large potential, the Dutch goalkeeper only ever made two league appearances during his four-year spell at PSV, instead finding himself on loan at Groningen, Twente, FC Zwolle and FC Eindhoven.

He finally found his home when he returned to Dutch football with NAC Breda a year later, going on to become a club great with over 300 league appearances during a nine-year spell. Midway through his time at the club, he even received a call-up for the Netherlands national team, but he did not make an appearance.
Ten Rouwelaar eventually retired from professional football in 2016 and immediately took up the position of goalkeeper coach for NAC Breda. During his four-year spell as their specialist coach, he also spent a year in a duel role on the Netherlands Under-20 coaching staff before he was headhunted by Vincent Kompany to join him at Anderlecht. When the Man City legend took over at Burnley two years ago, he took Ten Rouwelaar with him, where they guided the Clarets back to the Premier League before they were relegated after a season back in the top-flight.
During his eight-year coaching career, Ten Rouwelaar has coached the likes of Dutch international Andries Noppert and Brighton youngster Bart Verbruggen. United were monitoring Verbruggen before his move to the South Coast a year ago. While working with Ten Rouwelaar at Anderlecht, Hendrik Van Crombrugge was called up to the Belgium national side and he also worked with Arijanet Muric and James Trafford during his time at Burnley.
