Manchester United can't meet 'expensive' transfer demands as 'talks continue' over midfielder move
Talks are ongoing between Manchester United and free agent midfielder Adrien Rabiot but the player’s demands are reportedly ‘too expensive’ as things stand.
The Red Devils added to their midfield this summer with the signing of Uruguayan international Manuel Ugarte close to the transfer deadline. The former Paris Saint-Germain star is likely to make his debut after the international break as he was not registered in time to face Liverpool earlier this month.

Hide AdThere have been doubts raised over Casemiro’s long-term future at Old Trafford following a tough outing against Liverpool, with the Brazilian at fault for two of the visitor’s goals earlier this month. He has been linked with a move to Turkey, with the transfer window still open in the country. Rabiot has been without a club since leaving Juventus earlier this year following the conclusion of his contract, and has been targeted by United in the past.
Football Insider reports talks are continuing between the parties over a possible free transfer but that the Frenchman’s wage demands are too costly as things stand. Rabiot is also linked with clubs in Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Rabiot is one of the biggest names in European football without a club and he was left out of the most recent France squad due to his free agent status.
France boss Didier Deschamps has already addressed the player’s situation and is happy to welcome him back into the the fold at international level once he finds a club. Deschamps said: “Adrien Rabiot has a somewhat embarrassing situation. His contract was expiring and he was solicited by several teams but now he’s without a team and doesn’t train in a group. I hope he can quickly choose a club that can then bring him back to us”
The France international made his name at PSG and went on to play 227 games for the Ligue 1 giants in all competitions, scoring 24 goals. He also had a loan spell away from the capital at Toulouse as a youngster to get some experience under his belt. He was snapped up by Juventus in 2019 and made 212 appearances for the Serie A outfit altogether, finding the net on 22 occasions.
