Reported Manchester United target Moises Caicedo has admitted that it would be a “dream” to play for one of the best teams in world football.

The Brighton midfielder was linked with a move to Old Trafford during the summer transfer window, and has also been touted as a potential target for Liverpool in recent weeks.

For their part, Albion have been reluctant to part company with the 20-year-old, and are understood to value the player at around £100 million.

But despite their best efforts, holding on to one of the Premier League’s brightest prospects might become an increasingly difficult task for the Seagulls, especially in the face of mounting interest.

And now Caicedo himself has dropped a hint on his own ambitions for the future.

Addressing the recent departure of Graham Potter from the Amex Stadium, he told Olé: “It made me very sad now that he [Potter] left for Chelsea, because he helped me a lot and I wanted to continue having him as a manager, but that’s football.

“Right now I’m very focused on Brighton and the World Cup.

“I want to have a great World Cup and then we’ll see what happens.

“I think they [Chelsea] are one of the best teams in the world and nobody would turn down an offer from Chelsea or any other club like that. It’d be a dream to be in the best teams in the world and succeed there.”

Caicedo has spoken openly in the past about his admiration for United.

In an interview with The Athletic, the Ecuadorian said: “My dream is to play for Manchester United.

“Antonio Valencia is an example to follow,”
