Manchester United will allow Hannibal to leave on loan this summer, according to reports.

The Manchester Evening News claim Erik ten Hag has approved the decision for Hannibal to temporarily depart the club, with a deal potentially to be wrapped up ‘in the coming days’.

The outlet add that the teenager is likely to make a move to the Championship, with three unnamed clubs supposedly interested in taking Hannibal on loan for the 2022/23 campaign.

The opportunity to play regular first-team football is seen as the ‘best step’ for Hannibal at this stage of his career.

The midfielder is said to be keen on securing a move away from Old Trafford, as he needs to be playing consistently in order to nail down a spot in Tunisia’s World Cup squad.

Hannibal has established himself as an important part of Tunisia’s squad since he opted to switch his allegiances from France in June last year. However, he has largely been used from the bench by manager Jalel Kadri.

The United youngster is unlikely to nail down a place in the Red Devils’ team at present, with attacking midfielders Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek ahead of him in the pecking order.

Hannibal played in three of the club’s six pre-season matches this summer and has made three senior appearances for United. Ralf Rangnick handed the highly regarded protegee a maiden first-team start on the final day of the 2021/22 season, when the Red Devils lost 1-0 away to Crystal Palace.
