Man Utd youngster loan spell 'ends' early after being called out publicly by manager

One Manchester United youngster is set to return to the club after being called out by his loan manager.

Manchester United starlet Maxi Oyedele is set to return to the club early after his loan spell went belly up, according to reports. The 19-year-old has been with United since 2012 after joining from Burnley's academy at a young age, but he is yet to feature for the first team.

The midfielder had his first senior loan spell last season when he enjoyed a spell with non-league side Altrincham, scoring an impressive four goals in 12 league appearances. In January, he was handed a step up in the form of a loan spell with League Two club Forest Green Rovers, but that stint has not gone so well.

In fact, Oyedele has made just two league appearances, and according to the Mail, the midfielder has now been sent back to Old Trafford months before his loan deal is set to end. Oyedele was signed by Troy Deeney at Forest Green, but the former striker was sacked just a month later and replaced by Steve Cotterill.

Under Cotterill, the Poland under-21s international has struggled for football, and after a rare appearance off the bench against Crawley Town, a game Forest Green lost, Cotterill called out the United youngster. "He has to do a lot more to get in the starting line-up," he said. "I didn't feel there was enough productivity from him in the second half."

The youngster is now set to return to United early, forming part of Travis Binnion's under-21s squad. The report also claims he will get to train with the first team from time to time as he looks to step up his development.
