Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed Anthony Martial will be available for the club’s FA Cup clash with Everton on Friday.

The attacker was replaced in the second half of the Red Devils’ 3-0 win over Bournemouth on Tuesday, but Ten Hag has since revealed it is not a long-term problem. “He’s available,” the United manager told their official website.

“He came off but he didn’t play that much in the first half of the season so we have to bring him slowly back into 90 minutes. He can play 90 minutes but [if we’re playing him] in a row of games we have to protect him so he can have the strength, the power to deliver over 90 minutes, every third day.”

Meanwhile, Ten Hag has said he still doesn’t know how serious Donny van de Beek’s knee issue is after the midfielder was forced off in midweek with what looks like a serious injury. The former Ajax man was withdrawn immediately following a robust challenge from Marcos Senesi, with the Bournemouth defender’s challenge exacerbated by him slipping seconds as jumped into a tackle.

Ten Hag said after the game that it ‘doesn’t look good’, but he had no new information on Thursday. Asked if he knew how serious the problem is, the United boss responded: "Not yet. We are still doing investigations. Once we have it, once we finalise this process, we will bring an update."

Axel Tuanzebe and Jadon Sancho are not expected to return in time for the clash against the Toffees, but Diogo Dalot, Lisandro Martinez and Scott McTominay were all named on the bench against Bournemouth and are available again. Antony missed that game with a knock but has since been pictured back in training and is expected to be part of the squad for the third-round tie.

As for Everton, they’ll be without Nathan Patterson following the injury he picked up in Tuesday night’s 4-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion. "Nathan’s out for six weeks, unfortunately. It’s a medial ligament injury,” Frank Lampard said in the build-up to Friday’s encounter.

"It’s a blow for us. He’s a young full-back who’s come in, broke through and done really well for us. We know that.

“Now it’s time for others to take that mantle and he’ll be back in six weeks. It seems a long time now but he’ll be back.”

Patterson joins Andros Townsend and ex-United man James Garner on the sidelines, while Lampard also revealed he could be without Anthony Gordon and Dominic Calvert-Lewin for the trip to Old Trafford.

"We’ve had illness with Anthony Gordon and Yerry Mina. Yerry is over it, Anthony is on the back end of it so we’ll have to consider that,” said the former Chelsea midfielder.

“Dominic is pretty fatigued after the Brighton game, so we have to consider that as well going into the game, so we’ll see whether he’s fit to start.

Doubts: Gordon, Calvert-Lewin (Everton)

Ruled out: Tuanzebe, Van de Beek, Sancho (United); Patterson, Garner, Towsend (Everton)
