Fabrizio Romano: Man Utd 'make contact' with 6ft 6in colossus as they weigh up summer move
Manchester United have kickstarted discussion over an intriguing move to sign Torino goalkeeper Vanja Milinković-Savić as Ruben Amorim draws up plans to reinvigorate his first team squad after a difficult start to life at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have had problems in the goalkeeping department throughout the season which has contributed to a series of disappointing results. Andre Onana arrived from Inter Milan in 2023 to great fanfare but has struggled to find the same form that helped the San Siro side reach the Champions League final two seasons ago. Meanwhile Altay Bayındır, who has twice stepped between the posts in defeats to Newcastle United and Brentford in the Premier League has failed to impress when deputising in goal and has conceded four times on both occasions.

Man Utd look to re-sign former goalkeeper
Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano understands that the Red Devils are interested in re-signing in-form goalkeeper Vanja Milinković-Savić this summer and are weighing up the possibility of signing him as they wait on more information.
He posted on X: “Manchester United have added Vanja Milinković-Savić to their shortlist for new goalkeeper. Initial contacts took place for Torino GK among candidates for next season, waiting on price tag and more.“
At this stage, it’s not clear whether they intend to sign the 19-time international as first choice goalkeeper or whether the 28-year-old will just be another member of the department to provide depth to another incoming signing, with Southampton’s Aaron Ramsdale also being touted as a potential target this summer.

Vanja Milinković-Savić, younger brother of former Lazio playmaker Sergej Milinković-Savić, is a 28-year-old Serbian international goalkeeper that plays for Serie A side Torino.
The 6ft 6in shot-stopper came through the academy at Serbian side FK Vojvodina and was signed by United boss Louis van Gaal when he was just 18-years-old back in 2014. He spent a year on the books at United but never played for the club, with the entirety of his loan spell being based back at Vojvodina before they were ultimately forced to release the goalkeeper due to a work permit issue.
He then signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with Polish club Lechia Gdansk, before later moving to Italy with Torino in 2017 where he has since established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Overall, he’s played 155 times for Torino across all competitions, conceding 158 goals while keeping a commendable 52 clean sheets. He’s part of a team currently sitting 11th in Serie A and in recent times has helped the team to a series of top half finishes.
