Manchester United welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Old Trafford during the upcoming round of midweek Premier League matches.
The Red Devils head into the encounter in mixed form. They’re unbeaten in four but haven’t particularly impressed in any of those games, especially last Sunday when Newcastle United came away with a point.

As for the visitors, they’re enjoying their best-ever start to a Premier League season, with Antonio Conte guiding them to 23 points from the opening 10 matches. Spurs are third in the table at present and beat Everton 2-0 last weekend, with in-form Harry Kane netting along with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
This fixture has also produced some memorable games in recent years. A Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick inspired United to victory when Tottenham last travelled to Old Trafford, while the season prior Jose Mourinho’s Spurs won 6-1 at his old stomping ground.
Ahead of the eagerly anticipated clash, here’s all the key information.

Simon Hooper will take charge of the game and this will be his first-ever Premier League match involving United. The official has refereed the Red Devils once before, when they beat Ipswich Town 3-0 in a League Cup tie in 2015.
Hooper will be assisted at Old Trafford by Ian Hussin and Adrian Holmes, while Andy Madley will be on fourth official duty. Michael Oliver and Dan Robathan are set to oversee VAR from Stockley Park.
Team news
United will hope Christian Eriksen is fit to return against his former side after he missed the draw with Newcastle due to illness. Marcus Rashford was restricted to a little over 20 minutes due to the same reason, but may have fully recovered in time for Wednesday.

Anthony Martial could also be involved for the Red Devils after he missed the last two due to a back problem. Raphael Varane’s selection is also uncertain. The defender has been struggling with a knock in recent weeks and did play against Newcastle, but whether he is able to cope with the demands of three games in seven days is unknown.
Scott McTominay will be available after a recent suspension, while Martin Dubravka should return after he missed the Newcastle game as he was ineligible to face his parent club. Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Donny van de Beek are long-term injuries, while Harry Maguire is nearing a return to the team, although Wednesday’s clash will be too soon for him.
As for Spurs, Conte has already confirmed Richarlison is out through injury, while fellow attacker Dejan Kulusevski has missed the last three with a hamstring issue and is also a major doubt for the game. Emerson Royal remains suspended due to the red card he picked up against Arsenal recently.

Prediction
Spurs have been a strange team this season, often not playing well but picking up three points in matches. That they are level on points with Manchester City in the Premier League table indicates how well the team have done in the early months of the new season. Meanwhile, United have been underwhelming in recent games. Should Eriksen and Martial return, then the hosts’ chances of claiming a win will be greatly improved - however, we’re edging towards an away win in this one.
Our prediction: United 1-2 Tottenham
