Man Utd transfers: 2 deals which will probably happen, 4 possibilities & 5 that look unlikely
We have the latest on Manchester United’s pursuit of 11 players and how likely they are to join.
Manchester United are linked with a new player almost every day it seems, with fresh reports regularly emerging about potential signings.
While most tend to be impractical and unfeasible, it’s worth considering the Red Devils bragged of scouting 806 right-backs before signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka in 2019, so there’s every chance the club are ‘monitoring’ or ‘tracking’ a player even if it’s unlikely they’ll end up at Old Trafford.
So far this window, United have been linked with over 100 players, as per United Muppetiers, with several of those reported pursuits already dead in the water.
Darwin Nunez joined Liverpool, Erling Haaland ended up at Manchester City, soon to be followed by Kalvin Phillips, while Yves Bissouma and Antonio Rudiger also moved elsewhere.
Now it’s Frenkie De Jong, Christian Eriksen and Antony who are dominating the Red Devils’ transfer headlines as the club return to pre-season training.
United are yet to add to their squad since the disastrous 2021/22 campaign, with the market open for nearly three weeks.
But who is most likely to end up joining Erik ten Hag’s squad in the coming weeks and months? We’ve assessed 11 possible transfers and given our view on the chances of them signing for United …

1. Daniel Bachmann- Probably
This one has gone quiet, but Dean Henderson’s imminent departure means United will be on the lookout for a new back-up goalkeeper. The Watford stopper is expected to be available for a relatively low fee.

2. Frenkie De Jong- Probably
Every report from England and Spain seem to indicate it’s a case of if, not when, a deal is announced. De Jong is expected to cost an initial fee of £56m, rising to £69m.

3. Antony- Possibly
United appear to be interested in the Ajax winger, but it’s simply a case of whether they can afford to sign him and retain enough spending power to redistribute elsewhere in the squad.

4. Christian Eriksen- Possibly
The Dane appears to have a straight choice between United and Brentford, but recent reports state he is in no rush to make a decision.
