Manchester United look unlikely to make any major transfer additions ahead of Tuesday’s deadline, with limited funds meaning they can’t make significant moves despite a concern over midfield options.
An ankle injury sustained by Christian Eriksen may ultimately have a huge impact on the Red Devils’ season, and a long-term problem for the Dane could leave Erik ten Hag with just four senior midfield options for the remainder of the season. The full extent of the injury could be revealed on Tuesday during Ten Hag’s pre-match press conference, a media briefing which is likely to be dominated by transfer questions.

5. Charlie McNeill- Very likely
It’s been reported by a few outlets that the young attacker will head to Newport County on loan, a deal that makes sense for all parties given McNeill has played just six senior minutes this season.
6. Facundo Pellistri- Unlikely
Ten Hag hinted last week that the Uruguayan is part of his plans for the remainder of the season, so don’t expect to see him heading out on loan any time soon.
7. Axel Tuanzebe- Possibly
Returned to training recently but the 25-year-old hasn’t played for United since May 2021. Should the Red Devils find a buyer, this seems like a transfer which could well happen.
8. Brandon Williams- Possibly
Ten Hag said the decision lies with the player when asked last week, while saying he ‘likes’ him as a player. This one could go either way.
