Manchester United are keen to sell a number of players this summer to help fund Ruben Amorim rebuild

Manchester United have a host of players they are looking to offload this summer to help fund Ruben Amorim’s rebuild.

With the Red Devils missing out on European football for the 2025-26 campaign, the transfer budget is limited to around £100m at Old Trafford. Matheus Cunha has joined for £62.5m while talks continue for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo - who is set to cost around the same. United have had two bids rejected for the player.

Once those signings are completed, Amorim won’t be able to make more additions without further funds being raised by player exits. United could generate well over £100m in sales with Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Alejandro Garnacho all looking to move on during this window.

Chelsea have already paid £5m to United after going back on their obligation to sign Sancho and the player is now in advanced talks over personal terms with his next club, per reports.

Jadon Sancho in advanced talks with Juventus

Speaking on The United Stand YouTube channel, journalist Ben Jacobs revealed that Sancho’s camp are advancing with personal terms: "Juventus may prefer to do a loan with an obligation which is as good as a permanent exit, but it just allows them to defer some of the outlay and therefore put their money now, in this financial year on the Sancho wage, and wait to pay the obligation a little bit further down the line.

“Manchester United may be open to doing that if it's a permanent exit. But of course, their preference is just to get a transfer fee straight away and then be able to spend that in the market. But Juventus and Sancho are developing at the time we're recording, which is on a Thursday morning for me here in America.

“There's a meeting taking place between the Sancho camp and Juventus, and they are what can be termed as in advanced talks around the financials, which doesn't mean the deal is advanced yet, but what it means is that the personal terms are really being talked about in quite some detail, and that's leading Juventus to think there might be something here."

Man Utd loan could save them money - but obligation to buy must be set in stone

Sancho is on a reported £275,000 a week at United. Those wages are what stood in the way of a move to Chelsea. Sancho is under contract at Old Trafford until the summer of 2026 but United do have the option of a further year.

So if a loan with an obligation to buy is agreed, it must be iron clad that Juventus sign Sancho next summer to avoid a repeat scenario of the current transfer dilemma. The Red Devils can activate the player’s extension to ensure they gain a transfer fee. If Sancho leaves this month, United have the chance to save around £12m in wages for the season before waving goodbye next summer.

The ex-Borussia Dortmund man is reportedly willing to take a pay-cut to move to Turin. Juventus are also said to have proposed three players who could move to Old Trafford in a potential swap deal. The Serie A club have reportedly agreed a deal for Jonathan David with Sancho now their next target.
