Manchester United are back in Europa League mode following a draw with Chelsea in the Premier League over the weekend.
Erik ten Hag’s men took a point in West London thanks to Casemiro’s 94th minute leveller, with United remaining in touch with the top four despite a wobbly start.
They are now focused on th European, facing Sheriff Tiraspol on Thursday night at Old Trafford, and they likely need to win if they want to stay in with a chance of topping the group heading into the final game next week.
Ahead of this one, United have welcomed back Cristiano Ronaldo to the squad after the drama of last week, when he refused to come off the bench and left the stadium early.
“Yes, Cristiano will be in the squad tomorrow,” Ten Hag confirmed on Wednesday. “It’s not difficult and I think we said everything and answered all the questions. He was out for one game and now he is back in the squad as usual. It’s done, he’s back. I’m focused on the game and that’s important. Cristiano is involved in the squad tomorrow.”
The United boss also said Raphael Varane won’t be back before Christmas due to the injury he picked up last week at Stamford Bridge, while Anthony Martial remains out through injury.
However, there was better news on Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Donny van de Beek, all of whom could return in Thursday’s Europa League ecnounter.
