Man Utd tipped to battle Chelsea and Bayern Munich for 'next Alexander Isak'

Manchester United are said to be interested in an up-and-coming striker, but they are not alone.

Manchester United are said to be battling it out with a Premier League rival to sign a 'football prodigy'. The Red Devils have made transfer mistakes aplenty over recent years, spending huge amounts in the process.

The arrival of Jim Ratcliffe as a partial owner could lead to a change of approach, but it's no secret that the best way to avoid big fees and costly mistakes is to sign players while they are young. That's where good scouting comes in handy, and it seems the latest talent to be identified is Swedish youngster Jonah Kusi-Asare.

According to Sport, as many as three clubs are chasing a deal for the 16-year-old, who already has some experience of senior football. Kusi-Asare has made four substitute appearances for AIK, and his performances for the senior and youth teams have reportedly caught the attention of United, as well as Chelsea and Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

The youngster is a striker by trade, and he is no less than 6ft4" tall, leading to comparisons with fellow countryman and former United star Zlatan Ibrahimovic, according to SportWitness. The local paper has also compared his playing style to that of Newcastle United frontman and Sweden international Alexander Isak.

The youngster still needs to develop before he becomes a pollished player who is ready to play at the top level, but United, and indeed the other interested clubs, are hoping he can develop within their respective youth systems. The original report claims Kusi-Asare is a 'football prodigy', currently a Sweden under-17 international, and a transfer battle looks to be developing for his signature.
