An inconsistent Liverpool side pulled out all the stops to derail a rampant Manchester United run of form last weekend but Red Devils fans will still believe in the club's chances of mounting a late Premier League title challenge.

The new Erik ten Hag era is certainly cause for optimism around Old Trafford with Marcus Rashford converted into a world-beater while new signings Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez continue to impress.

A thumping at Anfield is a timely reminder that the United squad is still needing a few extra faces to ensure drubbings like that don't happen again.

These are the latest Manchester United transfer rumours...

World Cup winner at Premier League rival courted

Brighton midfielder and Argentina star Alexis Mac Allister is believed to have been approached by the Red Devils ahead of a summer move.

The 24-year-old is a key part of the impressive Seagulls' midfield and notched a goal and assist against West Ham last weekend.

According to Caught Offside, United have held discussions over signing Mac Allister. Brighton are now said to want close to the £62 million Chelsea paid for Marc Cucurella for the Argentine, whose value has doubled since his World Cup success.

United target dreams of Premier League move

Clubs sniffing around Napoli striker Victor Osimhen will be on high alert after the forward dropped a major hint about his future. The 24-year-old has 21 goals in all competitions this year and has been touted as a solution to the Red Devils' striker situation.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Osimhen said: "A lot of people worldwide consider the Premier League as the best and the strongest league but now I’m in one of the best leagues in the world which is the Italian Serie A.

“I’m working so hard to make sure that I achieve my dream of playing in the Premier League someday but like I said, it’s a process and I just want to keep on this momentum and continue to do well.”
