Since then, attentions have been firmly focused on who Erik ten Hag and his staff could look to bring in to bolster their ranks for the rest of the campaign.
And even with the weekend fast approaching, there’s plenty of transfer news to sift through.
With that in mind, here is Friday afternoon’s United-related speculation...
PSG make Rashford approach
Paris Saint-Germain have contacted Marcus Rashford over the possibility of a summer transfer, according to ESPN.

The 24-year-old has one year left on his current deal at Old Trafford, although United do have the option to automatically trigger an extension, essentially meaning that he has two years remaining.
PSG are yet to start discussions with the Red Devils, and it is understood that United would demand a high fee if they were to agree to Rashford’s exit.
It is claimed, however, that the England international’s camp has been “receptive” to the Parisians’ approach so far.
Rashford’s representatives reportedly met with PSG last week.
McClaren recommends Juranovic

United assistant coach Steve McClaren has ‘recommended’ Celtic full-back Josip Juranovic to new manager Ten Hag, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.
The Croatian is said to have emerged as a potential target for the Red Devils as they look to bolster their options at right-back.
90min have previously reported that the Hoops could be willing to sell the 26-year-old for around £15 million, with Chelsea also keen.
But according to Jones, United retain an interest in the player, thanks in large part to McClaren.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, he said: “Interestingly, I’m told that he [McClaren] is playing a part in this guy [Juranovic].
“He’s recommended him and it feels like he’s a player that would fit in well, so I do think there’s reason to take that rumour seriously.”
United eye Meslier
United are also keen on signing a new goalkeeper in the coming weeks, with Ten Hag eager to replace Dean Henderson, who joined Nottingham Forest on a season-long loan last month.
It is understood the Red Devils’ focus has shifted somewhat, with the club now looking to sign a deputy to David de Gea, rather than a third choice option as had previously been the case.

According to The Athletic, the budget for a new stopper has been raised from £1million to around £7million.
Additionally, it is reported that Ten Hag would like a goalkeeper capable of challenging De Gea and, if one becomes available, more funds could be assigned to the pursuit.
It is suggested that Leeds United number one Illan Meslier is a player potentially seen as a long-term replacement for the Spaniard, but the Whites have no intention of selling the 22-year-old this summer.
