Man Utd star Marcus Rashford told what he is missing after hitting 'rock bottom'

Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has come in for fresh criticism as his struggle for form and goal contributions go on.

The mentality of Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has been questioned amid his disappointing form this season. The 26-year-old was a key player for Erik ten Hag last season, but his contributions have been minor this term, only producing two goals and four assists so far.

United have disappointed in general, crashing out of Europa and currently sitting in seventh place in the Premier League, 10 points behind third place, where they finished last season. Rashford's regression is just one part of Ten Hag's puzzle, but it certainly hasn't helped. Rashford's poor form and the weekend's goalless draw between Liverpool and United has led Reds legend John Aldridge to join the conversation during an interview with the Irish Independent.

“Rashford scored 30 goals last season and, at times, looked like one of the best forwards in Europe, with his pace and power too much to handle. If anyone can find out where that player has gone this season, Ten Hag would like to hear from you," he said. “Every player has dips in form, but Rashford seems to go from a real high to rock bottom very quickly and that is not the sign of a truly world-class talent. Look at someone like Wayne Rooney, who came from a humble background in Liverpool and retained that hunger to succeed throughout his career.

“I just wonder whether Rashford has the mentality to fight back when the chips are down because from what we have seen this season, he doesn’t appear to have the spirit you need to overcome adversity.” Rashford has overcome adversity in the past, bouncing back from poor form with a huge season of last, but it is true that there have been too many peaks and troughs over recent seasons. United need a more consistent Rashford, and that job, at least in part, falls to Ten Hag.
