On-loan Manchester United star Wout Weghorst is reportedly being lined up for a quick return to Turkish football if his temporary spell at Old Trafford is not converted into a permanent switch.

The Dutch striker cut short a loan spell with Turkish giants Besiktas to join the Red Devils on a half-season loan deal from Championship club Burnley in January and has gone on to make ten appearances for Erik ten Hag’s side, scoring one goal in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg win at Nottingham Forest.

There has not been a firm decision made over Weghorst’s long-term future at Old Trafford but one report has suggested Galatasaray are preparing to take him back to Turkey if United’s opt against a permanent move. Takvim have reported Gala will make a summer move to hand the striker a second chance in the Super Lig if he does return to Burnley in June.

United urged to move for Arsenal target

Manchester United have been told their rebuilding process under Erik ten Hag would be fast-tracked by the summer signing of Inter Milan and Argentina striker Lautaro Martinez.

The 25-year-old frontman has enjoyed a successful five-year spell at the San Siro after joining Inter in a £20m move from Racing Club in the summer of 2018. The striker has netted 90 goals and provided 31 assists in just over 200 appearances for the Nerazzurri and helped the club claim the Serie A title and Coppa Italia over the last two seasons.

However, there has been speculation Martinez could be allowed to depart from Inter this summer and several clubs - including United and Arsenal - have been heavily linked with a move for his services. Journalist Pete O’Rourke has revealed why he believes Erik ten Hag could give a boost to his plans with the Red Devils by securing the signature of the striker.

He told GiveMeSport: “He’s a top player, a world-class striker, and I think that’s what Man Utd will be looking for this summer; a regular goalscorer who can help aid Erik ten Hag’s rebuilding process at Old Trafford.”
