Hide AdThe Red Devils have kicked off their summer recruitment in fine style after completing a £36million move for Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee and a £55million deal for Lille’s highly rated centre-back Leny Yoro. The summer business is far from over and head coach Erik ten Hag is reportedly keen to boost his midfield ranks before the transfer window comes to a close at the end of next month.
The latest reports in France have suggested the Red Devils have agreed personal terms with PSG’s Uruguayan international Ugarte - but are yet to reach an agreement with the current Ligue 1 champions. The Daily Mail have reported there is currently no agreement over a transfer fee and suggested the French giants will not accept an offer below their £59million valuation. Bayern Munich are also said to be keen on the former Sporting CP star and two Serie A clubs are also monitoring the situation.
Fabrizio Romano has given an update on the situation and revealed an agreement for Ugarte could spark the departure of McTominay and fellow midfielder Casemiro. He posted: Manchester United have agreed on personal terms with Manuel Ugarte. Contract terms discussed, player keen on moving to United even without Champions League football. Club-to-club talks continue with PSG, as more clubs also inquired. Same agent as Leny Yoro: Jorge Mendes. Man United, working on outgoings with Casemiro or Scott McTominay to make room for new midfielder. Ugarte, keen on the move. Up to the clubs.”

Hide AdIt is not the first time the Scotland international has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford and there were suggestions the likes of West Ham United, Fulham and Newcastle United were keen on a move for McTominay last summer. However, the United academy graduate remained with his boyhood club and went on to score ten goals and provide three assists in 43 appearances in all competitions to help Ten Hag’s side to their FA Cup Final win over Manchester City and claim a place in the upcoming season’s Europa League.
A new name has been thrown into the mix as McTominay’s future at the club remains in doubt after Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg posted Turkish giants Galatasaray have ‘not yet given up hope’ of securing a deal for the Red Devils midfielder and ‘have the feeling’ the 28-year-old would be open to a move to the Super Lig club.
He posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Been told that @GalatasaraySK have not yet given up hope on Scott McTominay! The 27-year-old is the preferred solution for their central midfield. Galatasaray have the feeling that he is open to a move to their club and there are serious chances. Therefore, Gala have also initiated talks with Manchester United. The clubs remain in contact. However, #MUFC are still demanding around €30m, which is still too much for them. Contract valid until 2025.”
