Man Utd star 'in talks' over exit as Bayern Munich 'enter race' for defender

All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Manchester United as they take a weekend off.

Manchester United are now on break as part of the Premier League's winter break system, and they went into that week or so of rest on the back of a draw with Tottenham. Erik ten Hag's men could drop to eight this weekend as a result, and pressure remains firmly on the Dutchman after a disappointing start to the season.

The Red Devils are looking very likely to miss out on the top four, and they have plenty of work to do to reach the Europa League. As Ten Hag searches for solutions over the course of the break, we have rounded up all the latest new surrounding Old Trafford.

Todibo competition

United are said to be interested in OGC Nice star Jean-Clair Todibo, but they could face competition, according to reports. Todibo has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, with the Red Devils in need of more defensive depth.

There have been reports suggesting United could have the edge in any transfer race involving Todibo given United and Nice share an owner in Jim Ratcliffe. But the player's preference is likely to sway the deal one way or another, and United will be concerned to hear that Bayern Munich are interested in the centre-back, according to Football Transfers, and that's despite the German club only signing Kim min-Jae in the summer.

Martial exit 'talks'

United are likely to see the back of Anthony Martial this summer, with the forward's contract set to expire after nine years at the club. The Frenchman has been much criticised over recent years, and it seems as though his time at Old Trafford will come to an end this summer despite United having an option to extend his deal by a further year.

According to HITC Football Martial is already in talks with clubs abroad over a deal ahead of the summer, and he is free to negotiate a pre-contract already. That would suggest United have told the Frenchman they will not be triggering the extra year. Though, even if they do decide to, which is unlikely, they would not be able to enfore the extra year if Martial agrees a pre-contract with another club first.
