Man Utd 'open to offers' for mega-money signing, report details what Ruben Amorim thinks of him

Man United spent £72 million on the attacker in August 2023, but he could be leaving in the summer.

Manchester United are expected to see a lot of departures in the summer transfer window, after Ruben Amorim side’s struggles this season in the Premier League.

They sit 13th in the league, with just 10 wins from 31 games, going into Thursday night’s Europa League clash against Lyon, hoping to keep their chances of winning a trophy this year alive.

After a poor season, the summer transfer window is expected to be a busy one, and several players are likely to be sold to generate funds to produce a squad overhaul. The club are reportedly willing to sell a fresh name this summer.

Man United willing to sell Rasmus Hojlund

The Red Devils have struggled mostly with scoring goals this term. Both strikers, Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have combined for just six league goals, meaning they are looking to upgrade at the position. Former Manchester City man Liam Delap is a key target.

United signed Hojlund in 2023 for a fee of £72m but he has since struggled to live up to that hefty price. Due to the 22-year-old’s struggles, reports have emerged suggesting that United will be willing to offload him this summer.

According to GiveMeSport, Hojlund has struggled to convince Amorim that he deserves to be the number nine for United moving forward. It says that United are open to offers for Hojlund this summer, but they might find it difficult to find a viable buyer for him. The report details Amorim’s feelings that Hojlund is not providing enough attacking threat for the Red Devils. The club have scored just 37 goals in 31 Premier League games.

One move that United could make is a similar one to the likes of Sancho and Rashford, where they send him out on loan and attach an option or obligation to buy him. If he plays well it could increase his value and chances of being an attractive signing for any prospective buyers.

Reports last month stated that Hojlund’s agents are working to accommodate a summer exit, with Napoli and Juventus both reportedly keen, as they are likely to sell Victor Osimhen and Dusan Vlahovic, respectively.

Man United could make Hojlund swap with Napoli

Seeing as the Serie A club are reportedly keen on signing the 22-year-old and Man United will need to sign a striker to replace him, they could work a swap deal with Victor Osimhen heading back to Old Trafford.

United have been linked to Osimhen alongside the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal. The Nigerian striker is currently on loan at Galatasaray but will move back to Napoli in the summer, who are expected to cash in on the 26-year-old.

Osimhen has scored 28 goals in 32 games this season for the Turkish side, showing himself to be one of the most prolific strikers in European football. He is reportedly keen on a move to the Premier League, and Man United could try and make it happen with Hojlund going the other way to Napoli.
