Manchester United are reportedly leading candidates to sign Chelsea’s Mason Mount this summer. The midfielder is out of contract at Stamford Bridge in June 2024 and his long-term future with the London club is up in the air with him yet to put pen-to-paper on a new deal.
According to Sky Sports, the Red Devils are showing the ‘strongest interest’ in the England international ahead of the next transfer window. Rivals Liverpool have also been mentioned as a potential suitor.

United could see Mount as someone to add more competition and depth in the middle of the park ahead of next term. Erik ten Hag’s side need to make some big signings if they are to compete with the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal in the future.
The Guardian claim Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is also on the ‘shortlist’ of targets at Old Trafford. He has found the net 30 times in this campaign which isn’t bad considering he is playing for a side who have massively underperformed.
Mount, who is 24-years-old, has made 35 appearances this season for Chelsea and has chipped in with three goals. He has been on the books of the Blues for his whole career to date and rose up through their academy.
The Portsmouth-born man was a regular at various youth levels before he was given the green light to head out the exit door on loan for spells at Vitesse in Holland and Derby County in the Championship to get some experience under his belt. He helped the latter reach the play-off final under Frank Lampard but they lost at Wembley to Aston Villa.

Since returning from Pride Park, Mount has become a first-team regular at Chelsea but it remains to be seen whether he will still be there come the 2023/24 season, with United interested.
