Defender latest

Ipswich Town remain in ‘discussions’ with Axel Tuanzebe following his departure from United at the end of last term despite his recent links with La Liga side Real Betis, according to a report by TWTD. The defender, who is a former England youth international, is a free agent and is weighing up his next move in the game as the Tractor Boys eye a potential swoop in the Championship under ex-Red Devils coach Kieran McKenna.

Tuanzebe rose up through the youth ranks at Old Trafford and went on to make 37 first-team appearances in all competitions. He also had loan spells away at Aston Villa, Napoli and Stoke City to get some experience under his belt.

Youngster eyed

United are ‘scouting’ Sunderland youngster Chris Rigg along with top flight rivals Newcastle United, as per iNews. Erik ten Hag’s side are said to have shown ‘interest’ in landing the highly-rated teenager in the last summer transfer window and are believed to be keeping tabs on his progress at the Stadium of Light.

The 16-year-old is being tipped for a bright future in the game and has already played five times for the Black Cats’ senior team so far after rising up through their academy ranks, chipping in with two goals to date. Tony Mowbray’s side could face a battle to keep hold of him down the line.
