United have been linked with Benfica starlet Joao Neves over recent weeks and months, but it seems they face an uphill task to sign him. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Portuguese side have placed a huge asking price on their key star, demanding any interesting club to meet the release clause.
Romano tweeted: "Benfica have no intention to open talks for João Neves in January despite Man United sending their scouts many times to track talented midfielder. There’s same clause as Enzo Fernández one year ago into his contract: €120m."
Ratcliffe review
United have received a good review of incoming partial owner Jim Ratcliffe, who is expected to be made an official part owner in the coming days. Ratcliffe also owns French club OGC Nice, and their manager, Francesco Farioli, has been speaking to The Telegraph about Ratcliffe and what United can expect.
“I met Jim Ratcliffe a few days after (taking the job) because he was very busy,” said Farioli. “But from his side, the first time we met, the feeling he transferred to me, it was really like the feeling of somebody that was really aware of many things. I felt already known before knowing him. It was a really warm welcome."
