City get their Club World Cup campaign underway against Wydad AC on June 18 before taking on Al Ain five days later. They finish their group stage campaign against Italian side Juventus on June 26. Guardiola is keen to bolster and has been linked with moves for Tijjani Reijnders of AC Milan along with Wolves star Rayan Aït-Nouri.

Fabrizio Romano gives update on Man City move for Tijjani Reijnders

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that City are poised to sign Reijnders from AC Milan ahead of the Club World Cup. He reported that personal terms have been agreed with the clubs now closing in on a deal.

He wrote on X: “Understand Manchester City are closing in on Tijjani Reijnders deal with AC Milan. Here we go, soon — as clubs are now in process to complete the agreement and bring Reijnders to City before FIFA Club World Cup. All done on personal terms between Reijnders and Man City.”

The 26-year-old has been with Milan since 2023 having spent the first chunk of his career in his native Netherlands. He is under contract at the San Siro until the summer of 2028. Milan are said to want around £63m to get the deal done but it is not clear how much of that they could be willing to accept in add-ons.

Jadon Sancho Man Utd future confirmed

Jadon Sancho has officially returned to Manchester United after Chelsea opted against signing him for the agreed £20-25m. The former Borussia Dortmund ace left Old Trafford for Stamford Bridge last summer with an obligation to buy baked into the loan deal. However, the Blues have paid a £5m penalty to forego that obligation.

In a fresh update, Fabrizio Romano confirmed the player would leave United this summer. He said on X: “Jadon Sancho won’t stay at Man United this summer, plan clear on both player and club side. Player’s camp to assess all options in the next weeks as Sancho will return to Man Utd not playing FIFA Club World Cup with Chelsea.”

Confirming his exit from Chelsea, Sancho said: “Grateful for the experience. Big love to everyone at Chelsea who made me feel at home — teammates, staff and the fans. Wishing the club all the best moving forward. Truly grateful, Thank you Blues.”

Sancho has high wage demands but it may not prove all that difficult for United to offload the player this summer. The Red Devils need to sell players in order to bolster Ruben Amorim’s transfer war-chest but having already pocked £5m from Chelsea, they could sell Sancho for as little as £15m now without having their expected financial windfall impacted.
