All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Manchester United as they prepare to return to action.

Manchester United are now preparing to return to action with the international break all-but over. Erik ten Hag’s men went into the break with improved spirits after securing a comeback win over Brentford at Old Trafford, but they are acutely aware that they must improve performances quickly.

Fortunately for the Red Devils, they have a very winnable game against Sheffield United this weekend, with the Blades having only picked up one point so far this season, sitting bottom of the pile. In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Old Trafford.

Dimarco ‘interest’

United are said to be targeting a left-back ahead of the January transfer window after being left short in the position so far this season. Luke Shaw’s injury issues have left Ten Hag struggling to fill the left side, although the loan signing of Sergio Reguillon will help going forward.

Reguillon has struggled himself with injuries over the last few games but he should now return to the fold. Still, United are said to be looking at a long-term left-back signing to add depth, with Calciomercato reporting that the Red Devils are ready to battle PSG for the signing of Inter Milan defender Federico Dimarco this winter. Dimarco is said to be valued at around £44million.

Reason behind Jassim withdrawal

Fabrizio Romano has been discussing the reasons behind Sheikh Jassim’s decision to pull out of the United takeover race. Jassim submitted five bids before walking away over the weekend after realising the Glazers were not keen on selling all of the club.

“Sheikh Jassim felt he would be the dream owner with the investments he was ready to make, not just at the club but around the stadium and in the city,” Romano explained in his Daily Briefing. Jassim’s exit from the race leaves only Jim Ratcliffe as a potential bidder, and it’s likely the Brit will purchase a smaller stake in the club.
