Manchester United are set to lose out to Juventus in the pursuit of a new striker

Manchester United are set to miss out on Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani after reports claimed he had accepted a loan move to Serie A giants Juventus.

Italian outlet Tutto Juve reported earlier this week that the Red Devils were on the verge of submitting an official offer to sign the France international ahead of the likes of Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur who have both been heavily linked with the talented striker in recent months.

The Red Devils have been desperately short of goals in the Premier League this season, and with both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee struggling to find the net on a regular basis, Amorim has reportedly made acquiring a centre forward his number one priority.

Randal Kolo Muani’s career so far

Randal Kolo Muani grew up in Paris and was a boyhood fan of PSG as a kid. He made a name for himself in the Nantes academy and was handed his Ligue 1 debut in 2019 by manager Vahid Halilhodžić. Kolo Muani won plaudits for his tremendous physicality, speed and ability to hold the ball up for his team-mates as a youngster, but really started to add goals to his game in the 2019/20 campaign as he scored nine goals in 37 appearances along with a decisive goal which kept the team up in the relegation play-off against Toulouse.

The young forward inspired Nantes to a ninth place finish in the 2020/21 campaign with 12 goals in 36 league matches and was a catalyst for The Canaries’ success as they lifted the Coupe de la Ligue for the first time in the club’s history by defeating Nice. Kolo Muani’s strong start in French football earned him a free transfer to reigning Europa League holders Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.

After an impressive first six months in Germany, he was rewarded with a place in the France national team and after initially struggling for football, became a key part of Didier Deschamp’s team which went all the way to the final before falling short on penalties against Argentina. Kolo Muani notably scored in the semi-final against Morocco to become the third fastest substitute to score in World Cup history.

Kolo Muani scored 15 goals and provided 11 assists, which made him the league's third-highest scorer and second-highest assister in his only season in the Bundesliga. A blockbuster £76.4m move to Paris Saint-Germain followed but in his first season he struggled to impress with six goals in 26 appearances with Kylian Mbappe and Goncalo Ramos both being preferred in attack. After Mbappe’s departure Kolo Muani was expected to emerge as the main man in the capital, but so far has struggled for regular game time, with midfielder Marcos Asencio instead often playing as a false nine.

Kolo Muani set to leave Paris Saint Germain

Randal Kolo Muani looks increasingly likely to leave the French capital after 18 months and has reportedly been deemed surplus to requirement at the Parc Des Princes by manager Luis Enrique. Several outlets including The Guardian understand the forward could be available on an initial loan deal in January, which would then include an obligation for a permanent come the end of the season.

Kolo Muani is primarily viewed as a centre forward but has proven throughout his career that he can also play on either wing due to his blistering speed and desire to run in behind opposing defences.

The latest report from Fabrizio Romano claims a deal is now in place for him to join Juventus. He wrote on X: “Randal Kolo Muani to Juventus, here we go! Deal in place on loan until June from PSG and NO buy option clause. Kolo Muani has accepted the proposal and will fly to Turin this week for medical tests. Agreement sealed.”
