Manchester United have returned to Premier League action, and with a bang.

The Red Devils comfortably saw off Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night, with Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Fred all on the scoresheet at Old Trafford. Combined with a Carabao Cup win, it’s now two from two since United returned to competitive action, and Erik ten Hag’s men will want to build on that form against Wolves on New Year’s Eve.

In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding Old Trafford as the January transfer window approaches:

Dumfries interest

United are said to be ‘pressing’ to sign Inter Milan star Denzel Dumfries.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Red Devils want to sign Dumfries to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who looks set to leave, and it’s likely the Dutchman is going to cost around £50million, especially after his impressive displays at the World Cup.

Chelsea have also been linked, with Inter reportedly open to allowing Dumfries to leave in the January transfer window. United should hold the advantage given they have a Dutch boss in Ten Hag, and potentially, a right-back spot free to take, while Chelsea don’t. Reece James is not going to be displaced any time soon at Stamford Bridge - however, his latest injury could see the Blues spring into action to secure quality cover.

United are said to have opened talks to sign Rennes star Martin Terrier. Terrier can play as a winger and a striker, and he has netted an impressive 38 goals in 45 Ligue 1 appearances since arriving at Rennes in 2020. According to Media Foot, United and Tottenham have now opened talks in an attempt to strike a deal for the 25-year-old, who is said to have been considered for France’s 2022 World Cup squad before the tournament.

It’s reported Terrier could cost as much as £40million, putting him in the same price bracket as Cody Gakpo, who looks to be heading to Liverpool.
