Man Utd predicted XI vs Reading gallery - eight changes and youngster to be handed first start

Erik ten Hag is likely to rotate his Manchester United squad for the visit of Reading.

Manchester United are expected to make wholesale changes for Saturday’s FA Cup fourth-round tie against Reading on Saturday.

The Red Devils face a hectic fixture schedule at present, with this game sandwiched either side of the two-legged Carabao Cup semi-final legs. However, the comfortable 3-0 victory on Wednesday means the need to preserve players for next week’s meeting at Old Trafford is somewhat lessened.

That said, Saturday still offers Erik ten Hag a great opportunity to give certain players a rest, with the likes of David de Gea, Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford playing significant minutes since the World Cup. Several players are also in need of playing time, such as captain Harry Maguire, who hasn’t started any of the last three for United.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag looks set to be without a number of injured players. Diogo Dalot is expected to miss out, while Luke Shaw is a doubt through illness. Ten Hag was also vague when asked if Jadon Sancho would be fit to return as he steps up his training regime following a prolonged period away from the first-team squad, while Axel Tuanzebe is not expected to be fit yet, but is also back in training.

Anthony Martial is the final absentee for United, with Ten Hag batting away suggestions earlier in the week that the Frenchman is ‘always injured’. Martial has missed the last three with a leg injury and it’s not clear when he could return to the team.

Here’s how we think United will line up for Saturday’s game…
