Erik ten Hag must decide whether to rotate his Manchester United team for Wednesday’s game against Tottenham Hotspur, with the Red Devils facing three tough Premier League fixtures in just seven days.
The clash with Spurs is sandwiched between last Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Newcastle United and Saturday’s trip to Chelsea. Therefore, Ten Hag may opt for freshness when selecting his team against Antonio Conte’s men.
But one player who won’t be rotated is David de Gea, with the goalkeeper making his 500th appearance for the club last weekend.
In defence, Diogo Dalot is the only real option at right-back, while on the opposite flank Ten Hag could reinstate Tyrell Malacia after Luke Shaw started the last two league matches. Victor Lindelof is also an option at the heart of defence, potentially in place of Raphael Varane who has been struggling with a knock in recent weeks, but did play against Newcastle.
In Sunday’s stalemate with the Magpies, Ten Hag’s side missed the influence of Christian Eriksen in the middle of the pitch, but he is likely to have recovered from injury in time to start. The Dane might be joined by Scott McTominay in midfield, although Fred and Casemiro started against Newcastle. Meanwhile, despite his poor recent form, Bruno Fernandes is expected to retain his offensive position in midfield.
Antony and Jadon Sancho began Sunday’s match and had some decent moments without ever really setting the game alight. They could retain their places, while Antony Elanga and Marcus Rashford offer alternatives.
The latter was ill and unable to start at the weekend, but could also play through the middle if Anthony Martial hasn’t recovered from injury in time for the Spurs clash. Cristiano Ronaldo has started the last two up front but has failed to impress in either.

Malacia could start, especially if United opt to rotate, but the Dutchman hasn’t played well in the last few games and we’re backing Shaw to retain his place.
6. Scott McTominay
Could come in to replace Casemiro, despite the Brazilian playing well in recent weeks. But, at 30, Casemiro might be saved for Saturday’s clash with Chelsea.
7. Christian Eriksen
If fit, he’ll definitely start for United, who missed his ability to dictate proceedings during Sunday’s draw with Newcastle.
8. Antony
Showed some bright sparks against Newcastle, but is still adapting to the pace of English football.
