Man Utd predicted line-up vs Dortmund: Injured midfielder expected to miss out - gallery

Manchester United face their final summer match in America when they take on Borussia Dortmund on Monday.

Manchester United are expected to be without youngster Kobbie Mainoo for the final match of the club’s US tour, which comes against Borussia Dortmund in Las Vegas, on Monday morning (2am UK time).

The midfielder has played in four of the club’s five pre-season matches this summer - against Leeds United, Lyon, Arsenal and Real Madrid, with the exception coming in the loss to Wrexham, although the team that day was made up mainly of Under-21 players.

Mainoo picked up what appeared to be a nasty injury on Thursday as the Red Devils were beaten by Madrid in Texas, with the 18-year-old replaced after just six minute. “Hopefully it's not too bad and then chances will come,” Erik ten Hag said after the match.

“I wanted to see what levels he could play. Against Arsenal, we were pleased with his performance. I wanted to see if he could repeat that, some days after, from then, we would have conclusions. First, we have to wait for the diagnosis and, from there on, we will set conclusions.”

But with Mainoo leaving the stadium using crutches and wearing a protective boot, the academy graduate looks set to miss out against Dortmund.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag is expected to use the match as an opportunity to give minutes to players who are likely to start against Wolverhampton Wanderers on the opening weekend of the Premier League season. The United boss gave certain players over an hour against Madrid in an effort to boost their fitness levels, with the same expected in Las Vegas.
