Man Utd predicted line-up v Luton: One change as Erik ten Hag faces defensive dilemma - gallery

Luke Shaw’s availability is the big unknown ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash.

Erik ten Hag could face a major selection dilemma ahead of Manchester United’s trip to Luton Town on Sunday.

The Red Devils head to Kenilworth Road on the back of last week’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa, a victory that has blown open the race for the Champions League spots. United are currently five points behind an out-of-form Villa side, and trail fourth-place Tottenham Hotspur by six points.

A win against Luton will continue United’s impressive form, with Ten Hag’s side winning the last four in all competitions. But their hopes of taking three points on Sunday have been dealt a blow by the news that Luke Shaw is a doubt for the game.

While Ten Hag said he is hopeful the England international will be fit to face Luton, he revealed Shaw’s availability is uncertain. That news is only compounded by a fresh injury to Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who will be out for ‘some weeks’.

It means United could be down to just one fit full-back for this weekend’s fixture, meaning Ten Hag may have to find an unorthodox solution. Victor Lindelof played at left-back at Villa Park after Shaw was replaced, but struggled in that role against the tricky Leon Bailey. Sofyan Amrabat has also filled in on the left-hand side of defence this season and could be an option to do so again at Luton.

Other than that, United are expected to select a similar team to the one that started against Villa last week. Here’s how we expect the Red Devils to set up this weekend…
