Man Utd player ratings v Newport County with two 'frustrating' 5/10s and a 'positive' 8/10

The ManchesterWorld take on Manchester United's FA Cup fourth round win at League Two club Newport County.

Manchester United came through an uncomfortable afternoon at Rodney Parade as they avoided a major FA Cup upset at the hands of League Two club Newport County.

All seemed to be going to plan for Erik ten Hag's men as they stamped their class upon the hosts during an impressive display throughout the opening quarter of an hour. Bruno Fernandes was at the heart of everything positive about the Red Devils during that time and put his side in front on seven minutes before youngster Kobbie Mainoo doubled the tally just before the quarter-hour mark.

But the Exiles began to settle and they got back into the game when a powerful volley from Bryn Morris took a deflection off Lisandro Martinez before flying beyond the grasp of United's debutant keeper Altay Bayindir. A shock looked on the cards when Newport levelled up the game just after half-time when Will Evans just beat Raphael Varane at the near post to divert a cross past the Turkish stopper.

Despite being frustrating for large parts of the game, Antony proved to be United's matchwinner as he grabbed the fifthl goal of the game by firing home after Luke Shaw's show had struck the far post. United had to see off nine minutes of injury-time as Rasmus Hojlund's finally killed off the hosts to send his side into an away day at either Bristol City or Nottingham Forest in the fifth round.

With a dramatic afternoon now behind us, we take a look at the United performance and hand out our player ratings.
