Man Utd player ratings gallery - One player impresses with 8/10 score & six get 7/10 in 1-0 Real Betis win
Marcus Rashford got the only goal of the game as Manchester United won the second leg of their Europa League last-16 tie.
Manchester United progressed to the quarter-finals of the Europa League on Thursday after beating Real Betis 1-0 at the Benito Villamarin Stadium. The Red Devils had led 4-1 from the first leg, and Marcus Rashford’s second-half strike ensured Erik ten Hag’s side won 5-1 on aggregate.
It was the hosts who started the game on top, and Juanmi should have scored after just eight minutes but, clean through on goal, the winger fired wide. Joaquin then hit the post from distance in the early stages as United looked raged.
That eased somewhat as the half continued, although Betis went close with two more shots - one that was saved by David de Gea and another that was blocked by Harry Maguire. United didn’t create much in the first half, but Fernandes saw a shot fly over while another was deflected wide.
In the final moments of a frenetic opening period, Facundo Pellistri’s attempt from inside the box hit the post, with Wout Weghorst just inches away from the ball as he slid in at the back post.
But United started the second half on the front foot, with Rashford shooting wide and then over, before the attacker broke the deadlock with a superb effort from outside the box that whizzed past Rui Silva.
United were well on top at this stage, with Harry Maguire glancing a header wide from a corner, before Jadon Sancho shot off target and Marcel Sabitzer saw his effort saved after a free-flowing move. Wout Weghorst could have added a second but fired directly at Silva.
At the other end, De Gea had to keep out an Ayoze Perez header, but it was a quiet finish to the game for both goalkeepers. Here’s how we rated the United players...

9. Bruno Fernandes- 7 (off 68)
Covered a lot of ground and played some nice passes in behind the Betis defence.

10. Marcus Rashford- 7 (off 61)
Was quiet in the first period but ran Betis ragged after the break. Rashford’s goal was one of his best so far this season.

11. Wout Weghorst- 5
Held the ball up well and brought others into the game, but the striker never looked likely to score himself.

12. Marcel Sabitzer- 7 (on 61)
Good in possession and drove forward from midfield on a regular basis.
