We’ve looked at the stats behind Manchester United’s player performances this season and look at who’s impressed - plus who hasn’t.

Manchester United return to Premier League action on Sunday when they face Manchester City, 28 days after the Red Devils’ last domestic match of the campaign.

It’s already been a season full of highs and lows, with the opening losses to Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford representing a distressing start to the Erik ten Hag era.

But a 2-1 win over Liverpool changed the atmosphere around the club and United have now won four in a row in the league.

The disparity between some of United’s showings from the first six games of the season has resulted in a real mix of individual performances.

Ahead of the return of Premier League football, we’ve had a look into which players have performed best and worst so far in 2022/23 and ranked all 21 players.

Whoscored rate players out of 10 for every game they appear in, and we’ve put the average scores for United players in order, starting from the lowest and ending with best-performing player of the season so far.

The website say their ratings are ‘based on a unique, comprehensive statistical algorithm, calculated live during the game. There are over 200 raw statistics included in the calculation of a player’s/team’s rating, weighted according to their influence within the game’.

Tha ratings don’t make for good reading for the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Maguire or Luke Shaw, while the stats are slightly skewed as some players have only featured a handful of times.
