After last weekend’s shock Premier League opening day defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, it feels as if speculation surrounding Manchester United and their transfer activity has gone into overdrive.
The Red Devils have been linked with no end of players this summer, but following on from such a disappointing result, the need for reinforcements has been acutely emphasised.

United are continuing to search for a back-up goalkeeper to provide additional cover for David de Gea, and have identified Southampton’s Alex McCarthy as a possible target, according to 90min.
The Saints stopper is one of a number of options on the club’s radar, although no approach has been made by the Red Devils at this stage.
For his part, McCarthy missed roughly half of last season through injury, and has slipped down the pecking order on the south coast following the summer arrival of Gavin Bazunu from Manchester City.

United are reportedly negotiating a potential deal for full-back Sergino Dest with Barcelona, according to Sport.
The Red Devils are understood to be in the market for a new right-back this summer, and are said to be in talks over a possible £16.9 million move for the USA international.

It is also claimed that United could be willing to allow Diogo Dalot to head in the opposite direction as part of any agreement, although Barca are said to favour a cash-only package.

Reported United target Sasa Kalajdzic wants to move to Old Trafford, according to Sky Sports.
The Stuttgart striker is one of several attacking options under consideration from the Red Devils, and is entering the final year of his contract in Germany.
